Electricity
The City of Pleasant Hill has joined MCE to offer residents and business additional energy choices and cleaner electricity options. Starting with your April 2021 billing cycle, MCE will be the default provider for generation of electricity. MCE’s standard service option offers a minimum of 60% renewable energy. You can accept MCE's standard service (automatic if you do nothing), opt to upgrade to MCE’s 100% renewable energy service, or opt out and remain with PG&E service. As an MCE customer, PG&E will continue to deliver the electricity through their power lines, provide your gas service, and send you one monthly bill. MCE electricity service replaces PG&E generation on your bill.As California’s first Community Choice Aggregation Program, MCE is a not-for-profit public agency founded in 2010 which offers cleaner, locally-controlled, cost-competitive electricity options. MCE procures energy from clean, renewable sources such as solar, wind, biogas, geothermal and small hydroelectric, which is then delivered to homes and businesses by PG&E. There are already 36 MCE communities in Contra Costa, Marin, Napa and Solano counties.
Enrollment begins April 2021. Pleasant Hill customers will receive two official notices 60 and 30 days prior to enrollment and two notices 30 and 60 days post-April enrollment providing information. Customers can choose to opt out of MCE service at any time.
