CCWD Gladys Drive & Vicinity Water Pipeline Replacement Project

Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) is starting work to replace and upgrade over 2.5 miles of aging water pipes in the Gregory Gardens area of Pleasant Hill. The older pipes in this neighborhood have a history of leaks, which result in costly repairs and disruptive water outages. When complete, this critical infrastructure upgrade project will improve water service reliability in the neighborhood. To improve fire safety in the neighborhood and to meet the latest standards for fire protection, CCWD will install additional hydrants in the neighborhood.

CCWD has awarded the construction of this important project to Cratus Inc. The project will be built in phases, with the initial phase being Phase E (Elinora Drive at Gregory Lane, Betty Lane, Nancy Lane). The layout and saw-cutting pavement for the new mains in this area is already done. The contractor is digging in the street to locate other existing utilities and beginning to trench for new main lines starting the week of October 24th. Cratus’ latest schedule is to complete Phase E by the end of December 2022. Work will then begin on Phase F which includes Gladys Drive and Ardith Drive. Phase F is planned to be completed by February 2023. Completion dates can be impacted by rainy weather or other unforeseen conditions. CCWD anticipates the construction of the entire project to be completed by Summer 2024.
