Central San Pleasant Hill Sewer Replacement Project

Logo

Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San) began work in August on a major sewer replacement project within the Gregory Gardens neighborhood. Original sewers are being replaced, as they are near the end of their useful life. This work will benefit from two earlier projects where deeper large-diameter interceptor sewers were installed, allowing replacement with an increased slope for improved functionality. Open-cut construction methods will be used on streets, while work in easements will be completed using a horizontal directional drilling method (HDD), reducing construction impacts to properties during the project.

The work hours for the project are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Easement work will conclude at 4:30 p.m. During construction hours, Central San contractors will aim to minimize traffic delays and provide accessibility to resident driveways. Outside of work hours, all excavations will be filled or plated.

Project Update - September 29, 2023

Starting this week, CentralSan's contractor is open-cut trenching to install new sewer pipes and manholes on Elinora Drive from Gladys Drive to Gregory Lane. This part of the construction activities requires a temporary closure of Elinora Drive to through traffic during working hours. Only local residents within the work area will have vehicular access to their properties, and there may be some temporary delays. Residents and drivers are encouraged to follow posted detour routes on other streets outside of the work area. For safety reasons, pedestrians are not permitted within the work zone, and walkers are advised to adjust their walking routes accordingly. Weather permitting, CentralSan is anticipating the current work on Elinora Drive will conclude in two to three weeks, assuming no unforeseen site conditions.  The work hours for the project are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.  Outside of working hours, all excavations in the roadway will be backfilled for plated, allowing access for residents.

Project Update - September 15, 2023

Beginning this week, the Contra Costa Central Sanitary District (CentralSan) will be starting on a major sewer replacement project affecting the Gregory Gardens neighborhood. The development’s original sewers are being replaced, as they are nearing the end of their useful life.

This renovation will benefit from two earlier projects where deeper large-diameter interceptor sewers were installed, allowing replacement with an increased slope for improved functionality. Renovation work in the streets will be completed using traditional open-cut construction, while renovations in easements will be completed using a horizontal directional drilling method (HDD). Using HDD in easements will reduce construction impacts to properties during the project. The Contractor will provide 7-Day and 2-Day advanced notices for each site as they progress through the project.

The work hours for the project are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, and easement work will conclude at 4:30 p.m. During construction hours, Central San contractors will work to minimize traffic delays and provide access to driveways. Outside of work hours, all excavations will be filled or plated, allowing full access to residents.
