The City Council certified the final results of the November 8, 2016 election at its meeting on Monday, December 19th. The results included the election of incumbent Councilmembers, Ken Carlson and Tim Flaherty, along with new Councilmember, Matt Rinn. All three were sworn in at Monday's meeting. The Council also certified the passage of Measure K, the half-cent sales tax measure, which was approved by 67% of voters.

17-year Councilmember, David Durant, retired from the Council at the meeting. Outgoing Mayor Sue Noack presented former Councilmember Durant with a City Proclamation and declared "Monday, December 19, 2016 as David Durant Day in Pleasant Hill". The photo shows Councilmember Noack making remarks with former Councilmember Durant on the right.

Later in the meeting, the newly seated Council elected Michael Harris and Tim Flaherty as Mayor and Vice Mayor respectively for the coming year.
