Pleasant Hill will be celebrating the 4th of July with a morning 5k Fun Run and Parade in the downtown, and with fireworks at College Park High in the evening. To accommodate these events, the Pleasant Hill Police will be making road closures, detours and lane changes in and around adjacent areas.

MORNING ROAD CLOSURES IN DOWNTOWN

To accommodate Fun Run and Parade, the Pleasant Hill Police Department will be making road closures, detours and lane changes in and around the Downtown area. Crescent Drive and Crescent Plaza will be closed to vehicular traffic. Vehicular traffic on Contra Costa Blvd will be detoured and the use of surrounding roadways for traffic will be restricted or prohibited. Drivers should expect traffic to be impacted by these actions and can expect significant traffic delays in and around the Downtown area. Road closures will begin at 7 am. Traffic should return to normal by noon.

EVENING CLOSURES NEAR COLLEGE PARK HIGH SCHOOL

The annual fireworks display takes place at College Park High School at dusk (approximately 9:20 p.m.)

The following road impacts will be in effect from about 8:30 p.m. until 30 minutes after the fireworks display has ended. Traffic should return to normal by 11 p.m.

  • Viking Dr will be closed to vehicular traffic between Norse Drive and Ruth Drive

  • Other areas that will be subject to detours/lane changes are: Taylor Boulevard at Civic Drive; Taylor Boulevard at Norse Drive; Taylor Boulevard at Mercury Way; Norse Drive at Civic Drive; Norse Drive at Viking Drive; Viking Drive at Morello Avenue; and Viking Drive at Ruth Drive.  

Drivers should expect significant traffic delays in these areas due to the high number of event participants.  Spectators and vehicles will be withheld from entering the fallout zone immediately following the show until the site has been cleared by the Fire Inspector.  Traffic should return to normal by 11:00 pm.
