Shelter in Place order
The Public Health Order for people to shelter in place at home has been extended through May 3 and clarifies, strengthens and extends portions of the original Order.

City Services by appointment only
To comply with the March 16 Public Health Order intended to slow the spread of COVID-19, most City Council and Commission meetings have been cancelled until further notice and the City is providing only essential services by appointment to the public. Cover your face! (Simple tips on how and why to wear masks or other face coverings)
The newest guidance from state and local health departments, as well as the federal government, is that people should wear facial coverings (masks) in public settings such as grocery stores or pharmacies where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. City Council ratifies Proclamation of Local State of Emergency
The City Council ratified a Proclamation of Local State of Emergency at a special online meeting at 4 p.m. Monday, March 23. Proclaiming a local state of emergency enables the City to access mutual aid and obtain reimbursement of eligible costs from the California Disaster Assistance Act for labor, materials purchased, and expended supplies related to this incident.
Republic Services suspends ’out of container’ pickups
For the safety of their workers, effective Monday, March 30, Republic Services is temporarily suspending collection of waste not placed in containers - this includes anything not inside of the cart (even if it’s in a bag), on-call bulky/organics/recycle cleanups, large items, illegal dumping and ewaste collection. Republic Services will call customers who had cleanups scheduled to let them know the service is temporarily suspended.

Mt. Diablo School District Schools closed - Letter from Superintendent Robert Martinez states "I have decided to formally close schools starting on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Please note that Monday is a scheduled Professional Development Day for teachers, with no students present. More specifics will follow this afternoon regarding the parameters of the closure, and plans to maintain some services for students during the formal closure to schools. We are working directly with any school sites where we have any new information that may prompt any immediate need to close school today, and will everyone with additional information as it is available."
