The widely anticipated opening of the Pleasant Hill Library is finally here! Join us from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on July 30, 2022, as we cut the ribbon and officially open the new Pleasant Hill Library. During the event, we will have opening remarks, followed by ribbon-cutting. After the ribbon is cut, visitors will be able to tour the facility and see demonstrations of the new amenities in the building, as well as have the opportunity to sign up for a library card.
Due to safety restrictions, the number of people allowed inside will be limited. However, while you wait there will be light refreshments, crafts, creek tours, and music outside the library.
Once the event has ended, the library will remain open until its normal closing time of 5:00 p.m.
The Pleasant Hill Library is made possible through voter-approved Measure K, a half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2016 to fund a new library as well as roads, storm drains, and other infrastructure improvements.
It is being built on approximately 5 acres donated by Contra Costa County.
In 2017, the City Council hired the renowned architectural firm, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, to design the library; Margaret Sullivan Studio played an integral role in the design.
Project management is provided by Swinerton Management and Consulting; BHM Construction, Inc. is the General Contractor for the construction of the Library.
