[ARCHIVED] Bird Scooters Launches Pilot Program

Pleasant Hill has a new way of getting around town. Introducing Bird Rides, Inc., an international leader in micromobility services (i.e., e-scooter and e-bike rentals).  Starting in September Bird has launched a pilot program of 150 e-scooters for use in the City. The program was approved in late June by the Pleasant Hill City Council.

Bird’s new scooter rental service will provide residents, commuters, and visitors with a fun, efficient, eco-friendly alternative to gas-powered vehicles that reduces roadway congestion and curtails greenhouse gas emissions.

How do you use it?  First, download the Bird app on a smart device, then verify the users’ age,  (must be 18 or older), and method of payment (valid credit card).  Through the app, users then locate a scooter nearby to make their connections to public transit, run an errand, meet up with friends, or just enjoy a ride around town.   In order to unlock and rent the e-scooter on a per-minute rate, users must watch a few short videos about scooter safety, roadway use, and parking etiquette to ensure that all users understand and abide by the rules for renting and operating e-scooters in Pleasant Hill.

Bird users, business owners, or members of the public are encouraged to call (866) 205-2442 or email pleasanthill311@bird.co to report any e-scooters that are parked poorly and/or blocking public access to paths of travel.  Bird’s local fleet manager will respond to any complaints and remove or reposition the e-scooters appropriately.
